Mandel Brot (Almond Bread)

3 ½ cup flour
2 t baking powder
1 cup sugar (honey)
¾ cup oil
1 t vanilla
1 cup nuts (walnuts)
½ - 1 cup raisins (fruit)
3 eggs

Beat eggs, sugar, vanilla, oil. Add some flour and mix well. Combine rest of ingredients. Form into 5 loaves. Bake on greased sheet 350 degrees 30 minutes. Remove, let cool 10 min. Slice ½ inch wide almost through. Return to oven for 15 min. Keeps well without refrigeration.

(My brother (Gary) has sent me this bread at Christmas time for several years. He and Mom used to make it together. The recipe comes from a Jewish friend of his and is a traditional Jewish bread. No yeast.)
