Gingersnaps

¾ cup shorting
1 cup brown sugar
¼ cup molasses
1 egg
1 cup all purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon cinnamon
½ teaspoon cloves
Cream first 4 ingredients until fluffy. Add dry ingredients and mix until blended. Form into
balls the size of ping pongs and roll in sugar. Place on greased cookie sheets 2” apart. Bake
about 10 minutes at 375 degrees, just barely baked as they will be chewy and not too hard.
Makes about 60
