Spicy Yellow Rice

1/4 cup chopped onion
3/4 cup long-grain rice, uncooked
1 ¾ cups water
½ to ¾ teaspoon ground turmeric or curry powder
½ teaspoon hot sauce
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon garlic powder
¼ teaspoon pepper
1 bay leaf
Oil skillet and place over med/high heat. Add onion and sauté until tender. Add rice, water,
and remaining ingredients to skillet. Bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat and simmer 22
minutes or until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed. Discard bay leaf.
I love cooking with turmeric or curry powder. This is very tasty and a nice side to any meal.
